Do you want to provide your car with comprehensive protection and an attractive appearance for a long time? One of the most frequently chosen solutions – which facilitate the daily care of the car and give it an exclusive visual effect – is the application of a protective coating on the car body. It is a simple and effective way to improve the depth of the paintwork, increase its gloss and, most importantly, provide high-quality protection against external factors. Interestingly, you do not have to decide to use the services of specialists to protect your vehicle in such a comprehensive manner. A novelty on the market is the Kevlar coating that you can apply yourself. Contrary to popular belief, it is a relatively easy process and many car-detailing enthusiasts can easily handle it on their own?
Ceramic coating with Kevlar
Kevlar is a novelty on the car body care market. It is considered to be the enhanced standard of the ceramic coating. It is one of the most durable materials on the market, invented for military purposes, and so far has been used mainly for the production of helmets, military helmets, bulletproof vests and skis. This is a real breakthrough when it comes to car protective coatings. Unlike ceramic or quartz coatings, it is available at a very competitive price and guarantees even better resistance to mechanical damage and chemical agents. The preparation has hydrophobic properties, thanks to which dirt and debris adhere to the body to a lesser extent. Thanks to the coating, they can be easily removed with pressurized water, which reduces the need for frequent visits to the car wash. Kevlar is extremely durable, protecting surfaces against scratches, rust and detergents used when washing the car. The varnish covered with a Kevlar coating does not require frequent polishing or waxing. The car’s body gains a shine and its color is even more intense. Although this innovative solution brings many advantages, for many people its greatest advantage is the ability to apply the preparation on their own – no need to use specialized services is a way to reduce the cost of the entire investment.
Ceramic coating by yourself
Applying a ceramic coating yourself is not a big challenge. After purchasing the product, we receive a kit that includes all the necessary elements, which may include, among others, a hardener, a Kevlar coating, a brush to apply a paste, a microfiber towel, pads for coating application, a set of cloths and impregnation for vehicle interiors.
What is the whole process like? Before starting work, the car paint must be clean and dry. Using the pipette included in the kit, apply 5 to 10 drops of activator to the pad. Then, by making circular movements, it is spread over each element, making sure that the pad is moist all the time. The next step is to apply the Kevlar coating with a brush and a new pad – the product is applied to it and applied with circular movements. After applying a thin layer, it is necessary to wait for the preparation to dry – about 5 to 10 minutes, and then polish the protected car body. The last step is to apply the preparation to the elements inside the car – including plastics or covers. This is done with an atomizer by spraying the product twice from a distance of 30 cm. Finally, we need to carefully polish them with a microfiber towel.
